About the Prize

The Premier's Anzac Prize is a unique opportunity for young Queenslanders to gain in-depth insight into the ANZAC legacy through research, workshops, and visits to significant sites on the Western Front (UK, France and Belgium).

Prize applications are open to Queensland high school students and teachers. Student applicants must be in years 8 to 11 at the time of application.

The 2026 Premier's ANZAC Prize 

Applications are now open for the 2026 Premier's Anzac Prize. 

Key dates

• Chaperone applications close – Friday 4 July 2025 

• Student applications close – Tuesday 22 July 2025 

• Young Historians Workshop – January 2026 (dates to be confirmed) 

• Premier's Anzac Prize tour – mid-April 2026 (dates to be confirmed) 

Prize details:

• A two-week tour of Europe visiting key sites important to Australian war history

• Learn about life at the front and the history of our ANZACs overseas during WWI 

• Students are required to attend a briefing session and a two-day history workshop, complete a research task, undertake a charity fundraising project and present to a primary school in the four to five months prior to travel 

• Final itinerary and details will be provided during the briefing session 

• The two teacher chaperones will accompany the group for the whole tour and will be required to assist with the Prize projects, tour planning and pre-departure sessions as well as undertake their own research task 

• Students must have prior parent/guardian consent 

• Accommodation is hotel style or twin share 

Prize inclusions:

• Return domestic flights to Brisbane (if required) 

• Return international flights 

• Three-day research workshop in Brisbane (January) 

• Two-week European tour (April) 

• Travel insurance 

• Hotel accommodation (shared rooming arrangements) 

• Most meals 

• All local travel, tours and entries fees 

• Tickets to the ANZAC Day Dawn Service in Villers-Bretonneux 

• Visas if required
